AIMPLAS has actively taken part of the ECOXY Project, being focused in the pultrusion of biocomposites tecnique in particular. Pultrusion is a manufacturing process that consist of pulling of a profile formed in the heated mold, where the polymerization of resin occurs, resulting in the production of continous profiles.
Within this process, AIMPLAS have used two types of bio epoxy resin, so as to analyse the main parameters for obtaining an improvement of the pultrusion process itself, in addition to study the reactivity of those resins, and the iconic reactivity. AIMPLAS also uncovers the improvement of the flame retardancy, wich is also another area of research they have led in ECOXY.
