Fibre reinforced thermoset composites (FRTCs) are attractive materials for high demanding sectors, such as automotive or constructions, due to their lightweight and excellent mechanical properties. However, the lack of reprocessability and difficulty for repairing and recycling significantly increases the overall material cost and causes grave environmental concerns. ECOXY Project is developing innovative bio-based epoxy resins and fibre reinforcements to produce newly suitable and techno-economically competitive FRTCs by targeting advanced functionalities: reparability, reprocessability, recyclability (3R resins) and fire behaviour properties.

BIO RESIN WITH FR AND NANO PARTICULES 01 BIO RESIN WITH FR AND NANO PARTICULES

In this project, AIMPLAS is working on improving 3R Resins to reach better fire behaviour, using different flame retardants and nanoparticles to obtain a synergistic effect. On the other hand, pultruion parametres has been taking into account to design a material suitable for this production process. This work will contribute to develop high-added materials for construction and automotive sector.

BIO RESIN WITH FR AND NANO PARTICULES BIO RESIN

The initial tests with bio-based resins, have contributed promising results have been obtained up to know, reaching flammability values V0, according to UL94 vertical flammability test, as well as reductions in MARHE value of 70% .
Based on results obtained, functionalization of the selected flame retardant is being accomplished to enhance even more the flame retantadant properties of the final material.
