AIMPLAS has actively taken part in the ECOXY Project, focusing on the pultrusion of biocomposites. Pultrusion is a manufacturing process consisting of pulling a profile formed in a heated mould, where the polymerization of the resin occurs, resulting in continuous profiles.
Within this process, AIMPLAS used two types of bio-epoxy resin to analyse the main parameters for improving the pultrusion process itself, and to study the reactivity of those resins. AIMPLAS also worked on improving flame retardancy, another area of research they led in ECOXY.
